Kyrenia Opera is pleased to announce the winners of the 2014-15 Vocal Competition. The competition aims to encourage and support young vocalists who are citizens of the Republic of Cyprus and to introduce them to respected experts on classical singing in the United States. The competition’s prestigious judging panel was comprised of international baritone William Stone and Metropolitan Opera soprano Maureen O’Flynn.

First prize in the Young Artist Division is presented to soprano Zoe Nicolaidou, with an award of $1000.00. In the University/College Division, soprano Marisa Anastasiadou is the recipient of an Encouragement Award of $400.00. In addition to the monetary awards, the singers have an invaluable opportunity for a consultation with one of the judges.

Kyrenia Opera’s mission is to forge an artistic connection between New York and Cyprus, through dynamic productions and educational outreach to children and adults.
