Behind the Curtain – The Lyric Lab is Kyrenia Opera’s free, youth program that brings young people behind the scenes of the performing arts. Through hands‑on workshops in singing, acting, students ages 8–18 learn how opera, concerts, and musical theater are created—from the first idea to the final performance. The program is designed to nurture creativity, confidence, and collaboration in a supportive, process‑focused environment.
A core part of the program focuses on vocal performance and healthy singing technique. Students explore breath support, tone production, diction, and expressive interpretation, all guided by professional vocal coaches. They learn how to warm up safely, expand their vocal range, and develop confidence in solo and ensemble singing. These sessions introduce young performers to the foundations of classical and contemporary vocal styles, helping them build skills they can carry into choirs, school productions, and future training.
Our goal is to inspire emerging talent, build confidence, and open pathways to future artistic careers.
