Kyrenia Opera reaches out to educate the music lovers of tomorrow. Through its educational outreach program, Kyrenia Opera brings live opera and multimedia presentations into the classroom and community setting.
Through planning and discussion with classroom teachers in advance of our visits, we are able to tailor presentations to each school or community organization. Each of these performances and seminars is provided free of charge to each organization.

Behind the Curtain - The Lyric Lab

Behind the Curtain – The Lyric Lab is Kyrenia Opera’s free, youth program that brings young people behind the scenes of the performing arts. Through hands‑on workshops in singing, acting, and stagecraft, students ages 8–18 learn how opera, concerts, and musical theater are created—from the first idea to the final performance.
A core part of the program focuses on vocal performance and healthy singing technique. Students explore breath support, tone production, diction, and expressive interpretation, all guided by professional vocal coaches. They learn how to warm up safely, expand their vocal range, and develop confidence in solo and ensemble singing. These sessions introduce young performers to the foundations of classical and contemporary vocal styles, helping them build skills they can carry into choirs, school productions, and future training.
Participants also work with professional artists, gaining hands‑on experience in the creative process and learning the trade skills that make a production possible. Students develop artistic, technical, and collaborative abilities while exploring everything from staging and design to storytelling and character development.
Our goal is to inspire emerging talent, build confidence, and open pathways to future artistic careers—whether onstage, backstage, or anywhere in between.
