Prepare to be transported on a musical journey where the genius of Giuseppe Verdi meets the revolutionary spirit of Mikis Theodorakis. As we mark the centenary of Theodorakis’ birth, these two legendary composers, though separated by a century, possess a remarkable ability to stir emotions, ignite social consciousness, and inspire resilience through music. Verdi’s operatic masterpieces, infused with sweeping melodies and dramatic intensity, resonate with Theodorakis’ deeply expressive compositions, whose works became anthems of freedom and resistance across generations. This special concert will showcase a selection of Verdi’s most iconic arias from Il Trovatore, La Forza del Destino, La Traviata, Luisa Miller, Otello, and Rigoletto, alongside some of Theodorakis’ most powerful songs, including selections from his cycles Axion Esti and Romiosini.
